Lavender
The other crop in the ground.
Grapes get most of the attention around here, but they don't get all of it. Lavender grows on the property too — and it's a crop that genuinely belongs in the high desert: it wants sun, drainage, and dry air, and Albuquerque has all three in quantity.
The rows went in as plugs, bloomed, and have already been cut and hung to dry by the bundle. Like everything at Pajarito Farms, the program is being built season by season — when there's something worth buying, bundles, oil, or whatever the plants prove they're best at, the mailing list hears it first.
